With season 3 of the hit HBO show currently delivering its signature blend of luxury, satire, and the occasional suspicious demise, the question on everyone’s mind is: where could White Lotus season 4 take us next?
While producers remain tight-lipped about the already confirmed fourth season (let alone the filming location), that doesn’t mean we can’t indulge in a little speculation – as a luxury travel provider, it’s where our thoughts have naturally gone to.
From sun-drenched safaris to secluded desert retreats and ultra-luxurious yachts, here’s where we think the next season could bring its cast of privileged (and occasionally doomed) guests.
If White Lotus Season 4 took us deep into the African wilderness, it would be a whole new kind of wild. The producers could also introduce a whole host of colourful characters into the cast – and we don’t just mean the A-list ensemble. Famed the world over as the stars of the safari, the Big Five - lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and African buffalos - would provide plenty of dramatic moments. And rather than guests or staff meeting their untimely end in the usual way (ahem, gunshot, suspicious fall, or mysterious poisoning), perhaps a big cat could conveniently take the blame?
South Africa’s game reserves offer the perfect contrast of high-end luxury and untamed nature – just the right setting for a group of wealthy guests to experience both the beauty of the landscape and the tension of being perhaps a touch too far from civilisation for their liking.
At Shamwari Private Game Reserve, guests can sip sundowners while elephants meander past, retreating to five-star lodges where every suite feels like a private oasis. Of course, in White Lotus fashion, the real drama might unfold over a tense safari drive – perhaps an overly enthusiastic guest stepping out of the vehicle at the wrong moment, or a suspicious disappearance near the watering hole…
For something even more exclusive, Tsala Treetop Lodge offers ultra-secluded residences nestled high in the canopy, a spectacular setting for whispered secrets over morning coffee on the deck. And then there’s Babylonstoren, a historic Cape Dutch estate where guests can stroll through orchards and vineyards – idyllic by day, but at night, who’s to say what dark secrets might come to light?
From the lush greenery of season 3’s Thailand to the golden expanse of the Saudi Arabian desert – now that would be a setting shift. The remote beauty of AlUla in Saudi Arabia would be an inspired choice for White Lotus season 4, with its vast sandstone cliffs and ancient Nabataean tombs providing an exquisitely dramatic backdrop.
At Our Habitas AlUla, guests would retreat to minimalist, sustainably built villas that blend into the desert landscape. By day, they could be meditating in canyons or indulging in locally inspired spa treatments. By night? Well, imagine flickering lanterns, long shadows cast across the sand, and perhaps a character vanishing into the dunes, never to be seen again…
With AlUla’s rich history of trade, culture, and mystery, there’s no shortage of inspiration for a plot brimming with intrigue. And given the region’s emphasis on wellness, perhaps White Lotus Season 4 could introduce a character trying just a little too hard to "find themselves" – with suitably disastrous results.
Is there anywhere more suited to a White Lotus murder mystery than the middle of the Omani desert? At Magic Camps Wahiba Sands, with just fifteen tents per camp, any villains would have fewer places to hide than in the sprawling resorts of previous seasons. But that only adds to the intrigue.
We can see it now: guests meeting in the dining tent for a lavish Middle Eastern breakfast, exploring the dunes by camelback, and taking to the skies in a microlight aircraft to admire the vast, golden landscape. By day, Wadi Bani Khalid - a valley escape of natural pools and hidden caves - would be the perfect spot for sunbathing, swimming, and pretending everything is completely fine. By night, flickering lanterns and star-filled skies set the mood for the kind of drama that White Lotus does best.
We’ve done lavish resorts. We’ve done private island escapes. What’s next? A yacht, of course! Nothing would portray White Lotus’ signature theme of ‘opulence with a side of existential crisis’ quite like a luxury yacht. Season 4’s guests could set sail aboard one of the world’s most luxurious vessels, giving us all the glamour of a five-star resort but with the added tension of being trapped at sea.
Perhaps a Ritz-Carlton Yacht to add to the luxury brands who have hosted the cast – sleek infinity pools, Michelin-starred dining, and discreet butlers tending to every whim. Or perhaps an Emerald Cruises yacht? Passengers would glide across their chosen seas in style, heading to the marina deck for mid-ocean dips, perhaps occasionally glancing nervously at the lifeboats.
Bodies going overboard while unknowing guests sip champagne below deck, lapping waves masking the noise of wealthy passengers arguing in their suites, a new port of call each day for any staff to retreat to if the night’s service has been all too much. And just maybe, another White Lotus character standing alone at the railing, gazing into the abyss… before vanishing overboard. Was it an accident? A well-planned escape? Or just another casualty of too much luxury?
While we’ve had fun speculating on how these luxurious locations could raise the stakes for White Lotus season 4, rest assured that every single hotel and resort mentioned prioritises guest safety to the highest standard. From expertly guided safari experiences to secure, remote retreats, these destinations offer nothing but world-class hospitality. The only real drama you’ll find? The kind written into a script.
At this point, it’s anyone’s guess where our favourite fictional travel lovers will head to next. But wherever White Lotus season 4 lands, one thing is certain: it will be extravagant, intriguing, and filled with the kind of social satire that makes the show so incredibly compelling.
So whether we’re heading to the African savanna, the depths of the Saudi desert, or floating luxuriously in the Mediterranean, we can’t wait to see where the next check-in takes us.
Just weeks before season 3 made its debut, HBO confirmed that there will be a fourth series of White Lotus, but that's about all the news we have so far.
We had to wait 2 years between season 2 and season 3, so if HBO follow this formulation, we could expect White Lotus season 4 to hit our screens in 2027.
We've had no hints yet as to where season 4 will take the cast, but wherever HBO choose is bound to be spectacular.
