Overview

Known as La Belle (the beautiful) Province, the Quebec region lives up to its nickname. The vast wilderness features snow-capped mountains, vivid waterways, great lakes and endless forests, whilst the major cities enjoy a splendid mix of modern innovations alongside stunning historical architecture. Enjoy fine-dining, shopping, skiing, and hiking on a luxury holiday in the Quebec Province.

The largest Canadian province, Quebec, has a distinct personality embracing a blend of North American and European cultures. In the capital of the province, Quebec City, you'll find the historic quarters bustling with the charm of Old Europe. Explore lots of fascinating museums and world renowned art galleries in the city, and then get a taste of the countryside with a trip to the island of Orleans with its green pastures and quaint villages.

On the doorstep of the Quebec City, are the cascading waters of the Montmorency Falls, and the sublime glacial valleys of Jacques-Cartier National Park. Meanwhile, beautiful and trendy Montreal offers a glittering skyscraper-filled skyline alongside heritage monuments like the Notre-Dame Basilica with its Gothic spires. Enjoy shopping and jazz in the Downtown area, check out the nightlife in the Old Port, dine in the Plateau, and walk to the summit of Mount Royal for a fantastic view of the city.

In driving distance from Montreal, Mont Tremblant is a city and ski resort nestled in the Laurentian Mountains around Lake Tremblant. In winter, go skiing, snowmobiling, ice climbing, ice skating and more. In the summer, try river rafting, championship golf, sailing, kayaking or just relax on the soft gold sands that fringe the lakeside. It's a breathtaking region with traditional alpine buildings and rich forests.

When To Visit

With warm summers and snow filled winters, the Quebec Province is a destination to visit at any time of the year. For hot, sunny weather, travel from June to September with daytime highs around 25 degrees Celsius. From November to April, expect sub-zero temperatures with lots of snow, perfect for skiing.

May and October make excellent months for long hikes with typical highs of 15 degrees Celsius. For treks to waterfalls, like Montmorency Falls and Canyon Sainte-Anne, try visiting from March to June when the falls are at their fullest.

Food & Drink

Expect fine dining at your luxury hotel in the Quebec Province with a la carte menus, themed international buffets and gourmet barbecues. Enjoy lots of fresh seafood, such as lobsters, oysters and pan-seared fish, and try prime meats like beef fillet and racks of lamb.

Sample local specialities, from tourtiere game meat pies to sumptuous poutine recipes - a national dish consisting of french fries, cheese curds and a rich gravy like braised venison and beer sauce. You'll also get to try authentic Italian pastas, heavenly desserts and renowned wines.

Passport & Visas

As with any holiday, it's a good idea to carry some identification with you and to keep a photocopy of your passport. British citizens don't normally need a visa to visit Canada for short stays, but will need to obtain Electronic Travel Authorisation before travelling. Visit GOV.UK for more advice.
