Location

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is located on the famous Western Cape of Africa, 270km from Cape Town. The reserve is situated in the Breede Valley region of the Western Cape, at the foot of the Warmwaterberg Mountain Range. It takes around 3 hours to drive from Cape Town.

Relaxation Retreat
The relaxation retreats provide massages and treatments which focus on eliminating toxins, soothing, relaxing and rejuvenating mind, body and soul.

Rock Art
The San people of Africa lived in harmony with the animals and nature and roamed the plains of Africa up until 100 years ago. Today, Sanbona is the location of several rock art sites, with the primitive art depicting a simpler time. Some rock art sites date back 3,500 years and are well worth visiting.

Stargazing
With an absence of light pollution, star gazing at Sanbona is amongst the best in South Africa. Informed guides will give you information about the constellations while weaving in stories about legends and the gods of old.

Meals and drinks are served at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner can be served either as a sit-down meal or as a BBQ depending upon the the weather.

Families

Families are welcome at the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve and have a dedicated area in which to stay – the Gondwana Family Lodge. The Gondwana Family Lodge has a dedicated ‘Kids on Safari’ programme which includes indoor and outdoor activities for children and families.

Safari

Game Drives
Sanbona runs 2 daily game drives – sunrise and sunset ones. Drinks are provided at each of these game drives and guests are offered tea and coffee with early drives and a sundowner drink at later drives. These drives are interactive and guests are asked to let the guides know of their particular interests beforehand so the guide can try to incorporate these into the drives.

The game drives are conducted from comfortable open Landcruisers with a qualified ranger. They can last up to 3 hours and can also feature nature walks, bird watching and rock art viewing. Make sure to watch out for the rare white lions and the Riverine Rabbit, the 13th most endangered mammal in the world.
