Having undoubtedly been for an explore of the immediate surrounding area on the day you arrived you’ll possibly have seen some of the key historical sites of Istanbul. Join tours to learn as you go visiting the likes of the Hagia Sophia, originally built as a Christian Church in the 6th century before becoming a mosque, then a museum and then a mosque again. Nearby you’ll also find the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, also fondly known as the Blue Mosque with its own historical stories, along with Topkapi Palace, just a few minutes away.
Heading to the famous Grand Bazaar is certainly worthwhile, you’ll either love it or hate but you'll have to see it to decide for yourself. With over 4000 shops spread over 61 covered streets, all with the vendors haggling and encouraging you in to view their goods, this is one of the world’s oldest and largest market areas.

Some of the historic sites you can visit during your stay include the Temples of Apollo and Athena, the ancient amphitheatre, and the monumental fountain.
