Located in Northwestern Greece, Parga is a town and municipality set with the region of Preveza in Epirus. It is best known for its natural environment. It stretches across a secluded bay giving it a small island ambience and features colourful houses which are built along the side of a mountain, stunning beaches with turquoise waters and Venetian castle ruins alongside beautiful greenery and stunning views.
The beaches of Parga are the main draw. The largest beach, Valtos, is sandy, and, with the protection of the bay, has relatively calm waters, making it ideal for water sport enthusiasts. Smaller and more secluded beaches can be found along the coastline, often with facilities and opportunities to snorkel and sunbathe.
Parga’s location means that guests here can enjoy a range of day trips. Why not take a boat up to the island of Corfu, and explore the medieval city. If you want to stay on the mainland, the ancient amphitheatre at Dordoni, or the cliffside monasteries at Meteora, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
With the crystal clear waters around the town being so calm and alive with life, it makes sense to rent a boat for the day. Sail along the coast, exploring hidden coves, or diving into the waters to snorkel.
Sitting on the hilltop, high above the town, the ruins of this medieval castle are a short hike up, and offer stunning views down to the beaches, or out to sea. The castle is located in a peaceful area, surrounded by cypress trees and crossed by stone trails.
